This track was issued on the independent, Brooklyn-based Supertronics label as part of a strategic push to deliver club-ready sounds directly to regional radio airplay. Melding a smooth, unpressured synth-funk groove with elements of early electronic freestyle, the song became a major breakout success, climbing to number 24 on Billboard's Hot Black Singles chart and eventually earning Davis a major-label deal with Columbia Records.
