Pianist and bandleader Pete Rodriguez defined the short-lived but highly influential Latin boogaloo movement on this 1967 United States 7-inch release for Alegre Records (catalog number X-4010). Co-written by Tony Pabón and Manny Rodriguez, Side A features the immortal title track "I Like It Like That"—an irresistible blend of Afro-Cuban rhythms and American R&B that served as the definitive anthem for East Harlem's youth and later inspired Cardi B's 2018 smash hit. This rare domestic 45 represents the exact flashpoint where New York's multicultural communities fused soul music with a Latin beat.
