Credited to the fictional band Max Frost and The Troopers from the cult classic film Wild in the Streets, the track was actually penned by the legendary songwriting duo of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Propelled by a roaring garage-psych arrangement, the single captured the rebellious spirit of the late 1960s and climbed to number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.
